Steel & Tube, a leading steel solutions provider with over 70 years of history, is seeking a proactive QHSET Advisor to join our North Island team. Reporting to the GM QHSET, you’ll play a pivotal role in implementing quality, health, safety, environmental, and training (QHSET) strategies across our dynamic operations. This role suits a detail-oriented, team-focused individual with QHSE experience, including supervisor-level candidates ready to step up into a challenging and rewarding position.
As a QHSET Advisor, you’ll support the development and execution of QHSET policies, ensuring compliance with NZ legislation and industry best practices. You’ll conduct audits, facilitate risk assessments, and deliver hands-on safety training to foster a strong safety culture. Collaborating with managers, staff, and external stakeholders like WorkSafe NZ, you’ll manage incident reporting, corrective actions, and ISO certifications (9001, 14001, 45001). Your ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment will be key, as will your knack for clear communication and building relationships across our infrastructure and distribution sites. Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and maintain QHSET programs aligned with legal and company standards
- Conduct monthly traceability audits and support ISO certification compliance
- Facilitate risk assessments and develop safety controls with the National EHST & W Manager
- Deliver safety training and create communication tools like toolbox talks
- Manage incident reporting, corrective actions, and stakeholder relationships
About You:
- 3-5 years’ QHSE experience, ideally in heavy industry; supervisor-level candidates welcome
- Relevant QHSE qualification (e.g., NEBOSH, OHS Diploma, or similar)
- Strong knowledge of NZ Health & Safety legislation and WorkSafe NZ regulations
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and MS Office skills; ERP/e-Document systems a plus
- Certified Auditor (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001) or training in Lean Six Sigma/Risk Assessment desirable
