Steel & Tube is one of New Zealand’s premier steel solutions providers, with over 70 years of history, is seeking a dynamic National Manager Process Excellence to lead transformative change in our Reo & Wire division, based in Auckland. This senior role is pivotal in driving operational efficiency, quality, and innovation across our four national manufacturing facilities.

As the National Manager Process Excellence, you’ll spearhead continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on optimising production machinery, enhancing line efficiency, and investigating efficiency improvements, such as automation. You’ll be involved with quality systems and inventory management, ensuring compliance with ISO and Lloyd’s standards while fostering a culture of safety and excellence. Collaborating with stakeholders like Location Managers, QHSET, and Procurement teams, you’ll develop and execute annual improvement plans, manage capital investments, and drive measurable outcomes that you develop. Your ability to challenge conventional thinking, inspire change, and deliver practical solutions will be key to success.

This role requires a strategic thinker with a passion for manufacturing excellence. You’ll bring lean manufacturing expertise, change management skills, and a proven ability to implement ideas in complex environments. With a focus on bespoke steel solutions for construction and infrastructure, you’ll ensure traceability, quality, and efficiency while coaching teams to embrace innovation. Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement annual Reo & Wire improvement plans focusing on efficiency, waste reduction, and safety
• Lead end-to-end capital investment projects, from business case to commissioning
• Oversee quality systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and robust auditing
• Manage inventory practices, collaborating with procurement and operations for efficiency
• Facilitate process improvement workshops and coach teams to adopt best practices
• Drive change management, ensuring stakeholder buy-in and sustainable outcomes

About You:

• Bachelor’s degree in a business or related discipline; project management certification desirable
• 5+ years in manufacturing, with lean manufacturing and change management experience
• Strong project management skills with a track record of delivering measurable results
• Experience with quality systems, inventory management, and bespoke production processes
• Familiarity with overhead gantry cranes or heavy manufacturing environments (desirable)
• Excellent communication and influencing skills to navigate complex stakeholder groups
• Minimum 5 years’ NZ work experience, with an understanding of local culture
• Proactive, resilient, and able to balance multiple priorities effectively
