Steel & Tube, one of New Zealand's leading steel solutions providers with over 70 years of proud Kiwi heritage, is seeking a dynamic coordinator to drive our export growth. Reporting to the Export Sales Manager, you'll facilitate end-to-end operations, supporting markets across the South Pacific. This full-time, permanent role suits a self-motivated professional with a can-do attitude, ready to step up and make an impact in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

As an Export - Logistics & Sales Coordinator, you'll be the heartbeat of our international operations, sourcing steel products tailored to global needs, negotiating with buyers for win-win deals, and ensuring every shipment sails smoothly from quote to delivery. You'll thrive in a role that demands adaptability, handling the steady rhythm of New Zealand logistics alongside the unique, relationship-driven pace of Pacific Island trade, where timelines can often flex. Collaborating with internal teams, plus external partners including freight agents, suppliers, and customers, you'll build trust and resolve challenges with empathy and efficiency.

This isn't just coordination; it's about spotting opportunities to expand our footprint, whether through proactive client outreach or innovative process tweaks that cut costs and boost satisfaction. With the Export Sales Manager often travelling, you'll operate independently, owning your workflow while escalating strategically for team success.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Orchestrate end-to-end exports: from quoting and order processing to documentation, shipping, and tracking for on-time delivery
  • Liaise with freight agents, shipping lines, and warehouse teams to manage logistics, ensuring accurate loading and cost-effective transport
  • Provide exceptional customer support, handle enquiries, quotes, updates, and issue resolution while nurturing long-term relationships with South Pacific clients
  • Drive process improvements: identify efficiencies, propose innovations, and contribute to sales growth by exploring market opportunities
  • Maintain compliance with QHSE standards, reporting incidents promptly and fostering a safe, sustainable workplace
  • Support the Export Sales Manager with travel prep, market insights, and promoting our full steel product range

About You:

  • Experience in steel (or similar industry) and/or export/logistics functions, but trainability and a positive, disciplined attitude are key
  • Proven self-motivation and ability to work independently under pressure, with strong problem-solving and multitasking skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities, plus cultural sensitivity for building global relationships (Pacific Island language skills a bonus)
  • Customer-focused mindset: empathetic, proactive, and dedicated to first-contact resolutions with a passion for exceptional service
  • Tech-savvy with proficiency in Microsoft tools and eagerness to master systems like AX Dynamics; team player who values collaboration and feedback
  • You're a coordinator ready to step up, or someone with the drive to develop into one, prioritising accuracy, ethics, and continuous learning
