About the Role:

We’re looking for a dynamic Account Manager to strategically grow our roll forming business and drive new opportunities across the Northland region. Based in Whangārei, you’ll focus on profitably promoting and selling our premium roll-formed steel products, including purlins, girts, joists, and roofing profiles to merchants, roofers, and construction customers in the far north. With some local travel required, you’ll build deep customer relationships, understand their unique challenges in roofing and construction, and deliver superior service that maximises sales, margins, and customer delight.

You’ll collaborate closely with the Sales Manager, customer service teams, regional staff, Group Product Managers, and national functions to develop targeted growth strategies, explore new markets, and ensure seamless support that meets every customer’s needs for the right product, in the right place, at the right time.

You’ll proactively pursue new business, monitor market and competitor trends, contribute to national product strategies, support accurate forecasting and reporting, and uphold the highest standards in health, safety, environment, and continuous improvement.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategically manage and expand key merchant and roofer accounts through relationship building, opportunity identification, solution selling, and regular engagement to exceed sales, margin, and growth targets for roll forming products.
  • Develop and implement growth strategies for roll forming products and markets, leveraging technical experts and contributing to national ‘One Company’ initiatives.
  • Proactively identify new business, understand customer industries and challenges, address concerns swiftly, and build sound, enduring personal relationships across the far north.
  • Support forecasting, sales planning, and reporting while driving operational excellence, cost control, and strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Actively promote Steel & Tube and our roll forming solutions within industry networks, trade associations, and key channels to market.
  • Maintain broad product knowledge while specialising in roll forming to deliver customised value and consistent customer delight.

 

About You:

You bring proven account management and relationship-selling success with a track record of hitting profitable growth targets and retaining/growing customers. Ideally, you have experience in the steel, building, roofing, or related trade industries, with strong commercial awareness, problem-solving skills, and the ability to influence at all levels. You’re well-organised, confident working independently in a busy environment, and committed to health, safety, and our core values. Familiarity with Northland markets, construction/roofing sectors, or reading plans is highly valued.
