Steel & Tube is one of New Zealand’s leading steel solutions providers, with over 70 years as a proud Kiwi company. Our galvanising division applies a durable zinc coating through the hot-dip process to prevent corrosion on steel used in construction, infrastructure, rural, and engineering projects nationwide. Join our Auckland team as a Galvaniser, reporting to the Operations Manager.

About the Role

This is a full-process, hands-on manual labour role in an industrial setting. You'll work across all stages of galvanising:

  • Preparing steel in the black end (segregating and handling contaminated items)
  • Maintaining acid baths for effective pickling
  • Safely dipping steel into the molten zinc kettle, and finishing on the white end (inspecting, fettling to remove excess zinc, packing, and stacking job lots safely)

Expect a physically demanding environment with heat, chemicals, and heavy lifting. Safety is non-negotiable, and you'll keep areas clear of hazards, assist customers when required, and communicate proactively to maintain quality, efficiency, and smooth operations. Comprehensive on-the-job training is provided to get you up to speed.

About You

We're after people with the right attitude for this tough but rewarding job. You're a reliable, good sort who turns up on time every day, gets on well with the team, and genuinely cares about everyone's safety.

You're used to heavy physical work, stay alert to solve problems ahead of time, think practically, and take pride in producing high-quality finished steel. No prior galvanising experience is needed as we'll train you, but it would be advantageous. ,

Desirable experience: Forklift licence (F endorsement), overhead gantry crane operation, experience with chemicals, or health & safety training.

You must be eligible to work in NZ without visa restrictions.
