Here’s your opportunity to lead our largest Distribution Centre with vision and strategy. Our Auckland facility operates 24/5 and is the main inwards point to our network, servicing our network of regional sites and direct-to-customer orders in the Auckland region.
With full control of site processes, and a motivated team reporting to you, you’ll be able to drive efficiency, continuous improvement, safety, and team engagement to continually improve a customer-centric operation. This role works closely with sales and senior management to ensure successful delivery across our network.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & People Development:
You’ll lead a high-performing, engaged team at our Auckland Distribution Centre, fostering a culture of accountability and empowerment. Developing talent, planning succession, and building trust will be key. You’ll also guide regional branches indirectly on operational best practices.
Service Delivery & Customer Focus:
Champion a customer-centric culture that meets Service Level Agreements, ensuring accurate, on-time, and in-spec deliveries. You’ll optimise order fulfilment, manage freight partnerships, and collaborate with regional branches to enhance service standards.
Health & Safety Leadership:
Safety is paramount. You’ll oversee shared H&S responsibilities, ensure compliance with legislation and Steel & Tube policies, lead incident investigations, and foster a transparent safety culture across the site.
Continuous Improvement & Change:
Drive cost efficiencies and innovation without compromising customer experience. You’ll embed corporate initiatives, lead change in a unionised environment, and optimise processes like inventory and quality management (ISO 9001:2015).
Inventory & Cost Management:
Maintain accurate stock records, reduce variances, and optimise freight and controllable costs. You’ll forecast workflows, align resources, and ensure inventory policies are followed across Auckland and regional branches.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
At least 7 years of Distribution Centre and warehouse management experience with multi-site, customer-focused operations. You’re skilled in distribution principles, inventory management, and leading teams through change. A degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Engineering or other relevant field is required. Desirable:
Lean Six Sigma or similar certifications, steel industry experience, and a track record in project management are a plus.
